Well I made my choice and I ordered the Omnisky modem.
Probably receive it Thursday or Friday.
Just wondering what to expect.
How's the install?
What about browers?
And what about taking the modem off and on?
How's the speed on the internet?

If these questions been asked before. Sorry.

Info would be great.

The installation is not that bad, you just insert the cd rom and there is some wizard that help you to activate the service and configure your e-mail accounts.
The browser is decent, but usually I use my Blazer because it support color and faster than the original browser.
There is a Power switch software to turn on and off the modem, just remember to always turn off the modem before you take it out from the slot.
The speed is faster if your signal reception is good, but if your signal is weak, the speed will become slower. That's why I like blazer because I can navigate the webpage before it finish rendering the page. Other browser usually wait until they download the page fully, and then display it. This is a pain if you want to view a big page.
Hope this is helpful!

I agree about Blazer, absolutely. I get good coverage, generally, but I do get many Serial Error messages...must do a soft reset and it then works well... so I would be very interested if you would post here when you get your modem and let us know if you have similar problems.

Good luck

You're probably buying the service at a good time. It seems that most of the bugs have been worked out by now for Visors. I still get ocassional errors, spotty service when the cell site is overloaded, and OSMail server flakiness but overall it works as advertised.

Getting to this place took two modem replacements, two flash rom revisions for the modem, and a dozen calls to thir generally excellant customer service department.

Unhappy

Well I finally got the Omnisky today.
Install wasn't bad. I just had to wait until the activation code worked.

At first I wasn't too impressed with it. I wanted to send it back. Now it's late in the night and after messing with it for hours. I have came with the same conclusion. I want to send it back. I've tried to post messages on this website. It just wouldn't let me. After typing my message I hit submit reply. The following screen gave reasons why my message wasn't posted. The first reason, was I wasn't logged in. Well I logged in and then try to post. Still I couldn't post. I have logged in numerous times and try to post. I couldn't get one post to work.
I'm definitely mad. Why have wireless internet if you can't surf like you want too. Also I like to post on forums and I can't even do that.
Also most of the default web channels don't work. I was surprised. Most of the websites I could get to but I couldn't look at any of the content.
Also the speed is slow.
Don't get me wrong though. I like to whole concept of wireless internet. But I don't think it' s going to work for me.
I still love my Prism

Cool thanks!

So cookies are the problem.
Does that mean I will have more access to websites?
I couldn't access some websites because it said the image were too big. How can I access them.
Just wondering.

Thanks for the info

Yes, and I think it's more convenience because you don't need to login every time you visit the site.

Wink

Yeah, bought blazer today. I'm definitely impressed with it.
Webpages come up quicker.
But still can't get use to waiting for webpages.
I'm using a cable modem at home.
So there is big difference in speed.
I guess I'll have to get use it or return the Omnisky modem. Also be out 20 bucks for blazer. I don't know what I'm going to do.
