I just posted about this as part of a request for info. in the "VisorCentral" message area of this Web site, but would be interested in hearing some end users' thoughts about this as well.
I have placed an order for a Blue Visor DX, but am now wondering about the appearance of springboard modules in the back of this unit. All springboard modules I have seen images of are depicted in black, and I am wondering how these will look when slid into the translucent back of the Visor DXs.
I have heard rumors that companies like Innogear will be making translucent springboard modules, but haven't seen definitive proof of this (or any screenshots).
The more I think about it, Handspring may have unneccessarily complicated things by making translucent backs for their Visor DXs. I wonder how many 3rd party manufacturers will make springboards in any other color than black (or "graphite" -- whatever). I haven't even seen versions of the 8MB Expansion module or Backup module sold by Handspring in anything but black.
I know that this whole color issue is one of personal taste, but am I alone in my concern that black modules in the back of a translucent case look strange?

actually, handspring did the right thing by making all the backs of the colored VDX's Ice.
This way you only need graphite and Ice springboards and not blue, green and orange ones...
I agree it's all a matter of personal taste..
I'm glad I changed my mind to graphite at the last minute...all (current) springboards will match my visor..

You know, it might have even been a better idea to go with black backs and color faceplates. The black backs would still maintain the color scheme with the springboard modules while allowing for some personal choice.
The best idea IMHO would be to go with detachable faceplates like the Nokia cell phones have. These let end-users customize their phone in any way they want.
Yes, I know that this whole color thing is an issue of aesthetics, but it is a consideration nonetheless, and might be something people should think about before getting a color Visor model. (looking through the message boards, and reading about the Visor DX color choice survey on this Web site, I'm actually surprised that more people haven't raised the issue of springboard aesthetics...)

Look at it this way: the mis-match in color between the back & the modules just cries out to the world, "Look at what an alpha-geek I am! I've got a great gadget *and* a super-duper module, too!"
Personally, I'm not worried about the colors. If there were different color modules, resale might be tougher. OTOH, a green VDx with an orange modem.....

I have a BVD. The last thing that I'm worried about is what color the springboards will be!!! I just wish I could get my hands on some of the useful springboards -- I don't care if they're solid colors, stripes, spotted, mottled, wood-grain, ...

Personally, I see no problem with the colors of the springboards. I have both the 8MB flash and backup modules and neither look out of place in the back of my BVD.
