Omnisky's has this promo going on now. Buy an OmniSky wireless modem and activate an annual service plan by June 30, 2001, and the modem is FREE. After mail in rebates.

Question

Do you know if the Minstrel supports VDX or is it just Edge and Prism?

Omnisky supports only the Prism, Platinum, and Edge.

free omnisky-is it worth it?

Does anyone currently use OmniSky? Is it worth the $30/month for an annual contract?

Lots of people here use Omnisky. As long as you have decent coverage in your area (be sure to check), I think it is well worth the money, especially now with the free modem deal. Be sure to pick up an antennna for the Samsung SCH-3500 from your local SprintPCS store and to download Blazer (web browser) if you do decide to go with Omnisky. These two accessories will greatly increase your wireless internet experience.

I like OmniSky much better than YY, for its coverage and support and, as I have posted elsewhere, even although the coverage maps and the Techs at OmniSky say I cannot receive coverage where I live, I usually can - particularly in the off hours (early morning & evening). I use the Samsung antenna where I need it and I do like Blazer - the newest version is much faster, too.
