Question

This is bizarre. I can't get my Visor Deluxe to do a hard reset using the button combination recommended in the manual. Each time I try this I get only a soft reset. The only way for me to hard reset is to take the batteries out and let the Visor sit for at least an hour (strangely, it holds the data for much longer than I expected).

Is there an alternate button combination I could try to allow for a quick hard reset on my Visor Deluxe? Also, is there some secret to how long each button must be held down before being released?

Don't know if this matters, but I run Datebk4 off the Appointment button and all other app buttons are mapped to split screen Datebk4 apps.

Thanks.

Guess I shoulda read the book

I can't speak for the book (having not read it, and you didn't list which buttons you tried), but I have always had a successful hard reset when I press the reset button while I am pressing the power button. It gives me a little prompt asking if I am sure I want to delete all the information on my handheld blah blah blah. That is the only reset+button combination I know of.

nope

that doesn't work for me. I'm beginning to think I need to warm reset first to make sure one of my programs isn't locking out the hard reset option.

I had the same problem just recently. If I remember correctly, I think I pressed the reset button, then the power button, and that hard reset the Visor.

To Hard Reset, you have to

1 .. Hold POWER.
2 .. Remove RESET PIN from DELUXE STYLUS.
3 .. Prod RESET PIN into RESET HOLE.
4 .. There is no step number 4.
5 .. There is no step number 5.
6 .. Wait for PALM COMPUTING PLATFORM screen to come up.
7 .. Release POWER.
8 .. Screen will prompt you to press UP to continue.
9 .. Press UP.

Voila!
