Power button problems? Recall?

I've owned a Visor Deluxe (graphite) since early last year. And I'll be honest. I love it.

But again, I'll be honest... I've had to return multiple units because of the power button malfunctioning. I realize that HS is probably sending out refurbs as warranty replacements but I seem to be getting the same problem over and over again.

I'm not running any weird hacks nor weird, out of the usual custom software. Basically, the unit will work great and then occassionally require a second or third (harder) push of the power button to turn on. And then eventually... nothing. Nothing at all. New batteries, new brands of batteries... nothing.

To their defense, they've acknowledged that something must be wrong with the power button on the defective unit and then send a replacement as they are so good about doing.

But is there a recall grade defect in the VDX that I don't know about? Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem?

Thumbs down You're not alone.

See my thread, "Visor Deluxe eating batteries" in this forum. I've had the same button troubles, and so have a few others. Unfortunately, mine's out of warranty, so I'm a bit hesitant to call Handspring (especially with the new surcharges for tech support).

My understanding is that the new surcharge for tech support does not start until January 2nd, 2002.
