Question

This has been a long time problem I have had with my visor since purchase in January. Often when I sync it takes multiple times and usually even a soft reset to get the visor to connect with my pc. Is there some trick to solve this problem, because I am tired of using all my paper clips to do the soft reset. Please advise.

Well, you are not the only one. It's a very rare occasion when I can dock my Visor into the cradle and it syncs without having to soft reset at least once. I have no idea what the problem is, but I sure would like to know. Another strange thing that happens to me is sometimes I dock my Visor and my computer crashes - I get this little weird black square on the screen and the only thing I can do is turn off the computer. The black square appears even before I press the Hotsync button. Has this ever happened to you?

What kind of Visor do you have? I have a standard 2mb with a 8mb flash module. It seems like I never had the sync problem before I started using the module. Do you also use a flash module? Do you sync with Outlook or with the Palm Desktop? I'm sorry to ask so many questions - I am just trying to find some similarities.

Interesting...

Sounds like you ought to suspect your operating system or PC hardware... I had a VDlx for a year and hotsynced (sp?) with rarely a problem on both a toshiba laptop and a micron pc and now an hp pc with W Milineum Edition (yes,I like it). Are you using W95 or W98 or other?

I would try to at least have W98.

I am using a visor deluxe. I am not using any backup module. I cannot be sure but I seem to remember having the computer freeze up on me after a hotsync. Sometimes I just restart my computer as well as soft reset before it syncs.

As for PC questions I had the problems syncing with 98, NT 4.0 and now with Win 2000. Therefore I do not think it is an OS issue. I have synced with different computers at different times, same problems, this leads me to believe it is a Visor problem. Any suggestions?

I totally agree with you - I definitely think it's a Visor problem. I sync my husband's Visor Deluxe with the same computer and his has synced every single time without a problem.

What software do you have on your Visor? I wonder if it could have anything to do with software incompatibility - like a conflict between different programs.

Have you contacted Handspring? I think that I might do that to see if they have ever addressed the problem before.

Regarding my PC - I have Windows 98. Again, however, I don't think that is the problem.

I will let you know if I find anything out.

I am not using any special software either. I mostly use all standard programs. I have not contacted Handspring yet, I will however. Please let me know what you find out, I will let you know what they tell me.
