Exclamation

I just installed 9.0.4 updater and can no longer sync. Not sure what the problem is, but tech support doesn't know yet either. They just had a briefing about the new update this afternoon and hadn't had any calls yet. Any others?

I think that's the only change I made on my Mac from my previous sync. Haven't been having any problems until this.

If there are others with this problem, please let tech support know.

Bob

The lack of Hotsynching in MacOS 9.0.4 appears to be some sort of extension conflict, if you guys make up a Conflict Catcher or Extension Manager set that has only the extensions needed for working with the Visor, you should be able to Hotsynch. Works for me!!!

On one of the other forums, someone suggested removing the backup folder from your user folder; I left the folder but moved the backup files into a temporary folder, and voila! I was able to sync. Haven't tried it since then but at least I have a way to sync it until something better comes along.

Hi Bob,

Tried the advice you gave about the backup folder, now my Hotsynching works again! Seems you've solved you're own problem. This is much better than switching Conflict Catcher sets and restarting . Anyway, Thanks again!!!

Cool

Thanks for the quick cure to my Error 25616 problem. I too installed MacOS 9.04 and did a couple of sync before running into the error. I expect I'll run into it at the office tomorrow as well.

Another solution that seems to work, coming from an Apple Tech:

Create a folder on the desktop called "Hold 9.0.4"

Insert the system disk that came with Sys 9.0

Open your System folder and place the following two files in the "Hold 9.0.4" folder on the desktop:
1, Mac OS ROM
2. Power PC Enabler 9.0.4

Open the System folder on your original Sys 9.0 CD/ROM and move the file Mac OS ROM from it into your System Folder

Reboot, but don't reboot before replacing the Mac OS ROM file as described above.

This will allow all of the new functions in 9.0.4 to work and will allow you to hot sync with your Visor without having to empty the backup folder each time.

Seems to work; when the fix arrives, you can place the two files from The Temp folder on the desktop back in the System folder and install the fix.

Well I installed 9.0.4 and went away for the weekend. When I came back I saw some posts about my Visor not being able to sync and got worried. Well I tried to sync and it didn't work. So before I started to panic, I just performed a soft reset and that solved it. I've been running 9.0.4 for a week now and have been able to synce twice a day without problems. Strange that mine works without having to do anything to the system. Maybe it has something to do with me running an older Mac with a PCI USB card. Anyone else using a beige G3 and have this OS9.0.4/visor conflict?
Maybe I've just been lucky so far and next time I hotsync my computer and visor will explode. Well I hope not.

Handspring has a software update that fixes any OS 9.0.4 incompatiblities. It worked just fine on my imac. Check their site in the updates section.
