I thought that the built in
microphone would work as a stand-alone
app. It turns out that you have to slip
in a $30 module which will run it.
Rip off?

Better to have microphone capabilities then no microphone at all. Besides, I imagine making it usable from the get go might have been to much overhead. Making it available for springboard's only makes more sense.

Now for the ultimate app...lets see who can make a springboard that does voice recognition as a fourth method of input
