Yes, digital input would have been optimal. Does it actually have software for the USB link or is it just like an extra out, similar to like a headphone jack? I don't know too much of minidiscs, all I recall was one player had you plug it into the headphone jack and it recorded it to the disk live, so it took a long time.

I know the Nomad and Rio players do, and would assume all did. Diamond was working on a program to reformat the card to normal but I'm not sure if it ever went past beta.

Effectively, it's an extra out using the USB plug and Window's own "USB Audio Out" driver. The hardware's quite nice, though; instead of just giving you a cable that sits on your desk and falls under its own weight, there's a short cylinder which holds it on the table.
