Hi there...

I've got a little program here that requires the "new serial manager" which comes with OS 3.3.

Is there any way I can get this thing into ram? Perhaps with an updated library or something?

damn, no flash rom sux...

marc

Oh, here's the link to the program:
It's a network monitor for mobile phones.......... .http://homepages.compuserve.de/walterhofm/netmonitor-v6.zip

Can I ask exactly what that program does? I tried to open the page, but it came up in some language that I don't understand.

PS The only thing that I could understand were the screenshots, and they looked intresting .

hi there...

language is german.. ;-)

what this program does is retrieving network information from the mobile phone such as the current frequency, the location of the serving cell (with map of the surrounding cells) plus countless information on the sim-chip and the network operator etc etc...

BUT,
it only works with a siemens S35 or S25 phone and a GSM network (common in europe)........

anyway, i need to run this program!
creator of this program told me that I require the so called " New Serial Manager" included in OS 3.3...

for those who are interested:
i just got an email reply from handspring:

-------------
Unfortunately if this software requires 3.3 or higher, there is not much you
can do. I am unaware of any software that you can install that will allow
for this. Sorry.

damn, i'm sorry too... saving costs by leaving out flash rom.......DOH!

marc

I still can hear those voices in my head:
"we don't need flash rom" ;-)

Mark,

Actually, there is one thing you can try. It adds some of the 3.3 serial IR capability to a 3.1 system. It apparently works well enough to let you use the Diamond Mako IR modem with an OS 3.1 Visor, at any rate.

Download the Enhanced Infrared Update from:
http://www.palm.com/support/downloads/irenhanc.html

Then install three of the four files:
irlib.prc
serialirpnl.prc
serircommlib.prc
(don't install amx.prc)

I'm assuming the GSM program you want to use makes use of IR communications. I don't know if this will add all the calls your program will need, but it's worth a shot. It does enable the use of an IR modem with the Visor, at least.

best,
Denny

Already had them installed cause I am using IRLink for IR Communication with my phone.

Still gives me a fatal exception.. ;-(
