Question

I have stumbled into an opportunity to purchase a Palm IIIc (yes, the color one) for less than half of what they cost retail. I currently have a Blue Visor Deluxe. I really want the color display but should I or shouldn't I? Please give me your thoughts. Thanks!

For less than half retail, I say do it. You're getting the best of both worlds. You have the color screen for the price of B/W. I have a IIIc, and though they have their faults, they are really nice machines overall. Go for it!

Color is definitely the way to go! Not only does it enhance the way you interact with your PDA, but it dramatically improves readability. No more squinting at a pea green screen.

I'm almost convinced. What about the springboard? I really didn't buy the Visor for that. But some of the "vapor springboards" sound pretty cool. I just can't make up my mind. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Lightbulb

If Handspring puts a springboard slot on their future color models you could buy a BVD right now and hopefully later on you would be able to use your current springboard modules on the color devices. Just something to think about.

That's a thought. I actually already own a BVDx. I will keep that in mind. Thank you!

Talking

I thought about that too! I could take the profit I make from the selling the second one on ebay and buy all of my accessories with it!

Cool

If I were you, before I'd buy the Palm IIIc, I'd go to a Staples or Office Depot and examine a sample Palm IIIc.

I personally found the color screen to cause eyestrain. The pixels are spaced too far apart.

Your milage may vary, of course.

My only comment is that it would really depend on where you use your PDA the most. My in-laws just bought the IIIc, and while they say it is easier on their eyes when reading email and such, the contrast in the outdoors (especialy direct sunlight), is lousy at best. So if you intend to use it while camping or the like, the Visor wmay be your best choice. In the end, but it at the discount and use it for a week or so...worst comes to worst you can definately make a profit selling it here, or on any of the auction sites. As for me, I'm sticking with my IVDx ;-)
