Question

Remember the infamous 'digital ink' that plauged many older Palm Pilots? This was where the two layers in the screen used for stylus detection got depressed together in certain heavily used areas and totally messed up stylus inputs? I was wondering whether it's likely that the newer screens are designed with so much flex on the top layer (i.e., squish) to prevent the kind of deformation that plagued the older units. It doesn't seem like the screen will ever get so worn that it'll depress permanently.

don't think alot of people thought of it! the Jello-Effect could actually be useful! But how long does it take on the older palm pilots for them to stick?

IMO, way too fast. I had my Palm Pilot for one semester and it began to show signs of deformation. (I called 3Com and they sent me a refurbished model, which would suffer fatal errors every five minutes. 3Com sent me another one, which looked like it was taken on a safari, with some kind of gunk in every nook and cranny. Who's worse? HS or Palm? )
