I can't get my Handspring modem to connect. I'm using a Visor Deluxe. The modem initializes, then starts dialing. It terminates with the message: "Error: modem not found 0X1106."

I'm using an analog line with the "rotary" option selected. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Are you sure you need to use Rotary? I'd suggest trying TouchTone and see if it makes any difference.

I live in Kiev, Ukraine, in an apartment building with a very antiquated phone line. Touch-tone is coming, we're told, but it's not here yet. I went ahead and tried it, but got the same result: "Error: modem not found 0X1106."
