It's becoming very discouraging to come to the General Visor forum only to see endless topics which are all variations on "When will I get my Visor!"

I would appreciate it very much if the staff of VisorCentral would create a new forum for shipping-related issues, where people can feel free to complain as much as they wish about Handspring's customer service (or lack thereof), and move these posts from the General Visor discussions.

We really need to clear the air here.

I wonder what the ratio between satisfied and non-satisfied customers?

Obviously, once YOU GET your Visor you probably will stop posting here (or at least post less). Visor appear on eBay (4 now) and there is a 'received log'. So some people are lucky.

Here's a new perspective:

http://messages.clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/handspring/bbs?action=m&tid=handspring& sid=16877966&mid=150

Unfortunately, the problem isn't the this forum, it's the company we and our credit cards are involved with!

The solution to your worries though lies within you. Instead of posting "How about a new forum?" just post a thread subject that you want to discuss, and stop clicking on threads that may clash with your dreams about what Handspring would be like with competent management.

Mega-dittos on the new forum idea. Even if you want to delete it in about a month or so, you could then choose to ignore this startup hubbub. I've been thinking this for awhile.

HipHop - One would assume that if you DIDN'T order a Visor, you would stop posting here as well, but it hasn't stopped you, has it?

Wiz, you're right. I wanted to, but didn't order. It has nothing to do with the comments here.

I'm just interested in the topic. Maybe I buy one later. Much later. (but I tried to get one at eBay - but prices are just CRAZY)

But it's interesting to follow the thread. It's a mixture of 'Dallas', 'X-Files' & '20/20'.

OK, my point in this thread was that we don't know the ratio of good vs. bad orders. I read more bad then good and there are certainly many screw-ups by HS.

Sorry, I have also no conclusion. I hope that HS will work it out soon to the benefits of all buyers.

PS: isn't it interesting how this board changed from a very very pro HS to a very anti HS board?

HipHop,

Great funny analysis, right on the money! The strange, weird occurances in the order database, concerned consumers investigating and exposing the truth, the true-believer backlash, the anti-backlash backlash! I would just add a "car crash" to your list though for the rubberneckers like you

You're right though, there should be a poll for those who contacted HS or their CC company -- Either ask... "Was your order/CC info messed up or just fine?" Or else ask... "If you wouldn't have contacted HS do you think you would have recieved your Visor order?"

This would help people decide whether or not to trust and wait.

Just wait till the days tick by this week for some more fun. So many people were told by CSRs that "It's in the mail" and replied "great!" and never talked to a supervisor.

Well, guess what? Unfortunately it looks like that was just the pre-packaged response for those on (six-hours of) hold. It seems many who pressed for confirmation of a tracking number or a supervisor ended up saying "Great " after finding out their 9/14 really never even shipped and is now out of stock.

I would love to read how this device has changed people's lives too, but that's after we get the darn thing and are able to use our credit cards again!

I for one would not want to discourage members who haven't bought into the Visor phenomenon. Not because I also haven't picked one up yet (I will, oh believe me I will), but because a "yippie great gotta love it!" only atmosphere around here would be boring.

At least it looks like we're trying to get our sense of humor back. Without that (and our PDA of choice), we're all lost!

mctague,

There are plenty of Palm boards w/o any complaints except prices. You've entered a Handspring board now. Welcome to our world.
Listen to the voice of our leader...Zippy.

We're honest enthusiastic early adopters round here, but we want some respect as well.
But that doesn't mean we don't have a sense of humor when we don't get any.

I mean c'mon! What other tech company in the free world gives out a partial tracking number to Joe in NY for a shipment to Bob in FL that's being double billed to Stan in Detroit? Lighten up Francis! If you don't laugh you're going to cry.

For a positive change have a look at:

All seem to be receivers.

PS: The Visor receive log has 48 success stories.

Cool

Go to www.palmstation.com . You get most of the facts with little complaining. It's typically also a more techincally adept group who have been with the PalmOS since the beginning.

Lately I usually stay off the general forum here simply because this has turned into a RANT fest. Sorry guys but you're turning infantile about this whole issue. Calling every other day about your order is CRAZY and only driving up the wait times you ***** about. I'm not saying you don't have legitimate gripes, but there are more effective ways of making yourselves heard and accomplishing what you want without acting like spoiled brats who have nothing better to do than obsess about the timeliness of their Visor's delivery.

Handsprung et al, you really should push the "Where's my #@$$@! Visor!" comments over to a new forum before this drives away participants in the site.

As for me, I'm outta here for the next week with hopes that with November will come cooler heads and happier customers leading to more enlightening discussion threads on this site.

Cool

I second the motion! New forum! Please!

I've seen things like this happen before. I play a lot of games, and for a while, one of my fovorites was Worms 2. Right around the time that Microprose was going to release the sequel, Worms Armageddon, they started a forum on their site. Things started out good - everyone was enthusiastic. They were all pals, all making great jokes about how they were going to dominate everyone else. Lots of good friendly competition and cameradrie. But then, the shipping was delayed (which happens frequently in the gaming world). At first, people were patient, but then they started becoming impatient, irritated, angry, and then downright hostile. The product did finally ship, though, and as I understand it, has a loyal follwing.

I don't like the fact that the same trend it becoming visible here. Yeah, maybe Handspring has got some problems, but I'm willing to be patient. The Visor is, in my opinion, still a better product than the Palm. Noone who has received thiers has stated otherwise.

New forum!

This forum is providing uncensored facts that obviously clash with the picture of Handspring some had in their heads. Slashdot has another intelligent discussion of the issue and so does Yahoo. You'll see the same varied interesting opinions there too. No matter what, people ought to be interested in the truth, even if it hurts. Roaches always want to run when the light gets turned on.

Many posts lately are reflecting outright lies Handspring was giving to callers just last week. I got lied to myself and suspected it and demanded a supervisor who apologized. But of course according to some, these posters should just shut the hell up because it's their own fault for calling. Unfortunately, when your order information is screwed up you could literally wait forever since Handspring won't contact you.

I suspect some of these people saying "everyone's happy, let's move on" are Handspring employees trying to keep things calm. Why would a real buyer who's been double charged already not want to see the truth about the inside of a company they are putting so much faith in as an early adopter.

VisorCentral forum monitors should start checking IP addresses of new members for HS employees.

The other forum linked above has an informative Visor recieved log. Yipee. We all know Visors are getting to some people. Good if all you want to read is posts with the intelligence of those Worms ChrisB is talking about.

-- Duh, got one.

-- Got mine too. It's kewl.

-- Me 2 dude, just ordered it yesterday

We are discussing adding a forum for shipping issues, but not just to get complaints shifted to a spot of their own. Not everyone wants to read posts about springboards, yet there are those that are very much interested in them. That is why we have a Springboards forum. Same reason we now have a Palm OS Forum because not everyone that reads VisorCentral plans on buying a Visor.

When a significant number of messages on a particular topic are posted daily, we may find it necessary to give that topic a forum of its own. Rest assured that if we do create a forum for shipping, I will be moving "Got my Visor!" posts to the new forum as well as "Got charged 20 times!" posts.

Update We now have the new forum added.
