VisorCentral Streaming Video

I hate "mine is better than yours" debates more than I hate my brother-in-law.

So, let's do this the democratic way. Vote here for your preferred video format. If you select Other, please specify it in a post. Please don't turn this into a flame war about which is better, etc...

And, let's give marcus and the guys a break. They did what they felt was best with the tools available to them (and within the confines of their budget).

This poll will self-destruct on 11/21/2001...

Isn't this the same as the poll on the front page?

That'll teach me for sneakin' in and out the back door...

But what the heck... I'm a "discussion" moderator... not a "front page" moderator...

It will be interesting to see if the results from the front page and the boards match though. 'Back Door' Vs. 'Front Door' - a VC Faceoff article?

For the record, I never use the front door.

That in itself would be an interesting poll...

Streaming Media

The problem with Windows Streaming Media and Quicktime (if the Sorensen codec is used) is that it's difficult for Linux users (like me) to view them. Real is the only streaming media format that is cross platform. While it doesn't provide the best quality, something is better than nothing. I think that why many sites offer multiple formats. Yes, I know the creation and conversion of video formats is a pain, but you asked...

The problem with RealPlayer, at least for me, is that every time it runs, it automatically updates all of my internet preferences to default to the Real player, and I have to spend twenty minutes changing them back to software that works. This affects all of my video and audio formats. It's horribly annoying and I've tried several times to turn it off. The company won't reply to my emails.

The problem with Real is that it sucks. A lot.
