Light grey shadow

Don't know how to describe this, but recently (a few days ago), what used to be empty background (or same color as background when Visor is off), is now a very light grey when I turn on the Edge.

So I can actually see a filled very light grey background in all my screens (160x160) so the contrast is not as good as before. It's not there when it's off, so it seems like a software thing. I don't have any screen hacks installed.

Is there actually some contrast thing that I might have accidently changed? The display now doesn't look as crisp/sharp as it used to be.

I just want to know whether this is normal after use or whether I should bring it in to be checked.

Bring it in? Where?

I'd say return it.

Well here in Malaysia, we have to send it to Grandtech which is a small office. Since it's in the same city, I might as well just drop in instead of the trouble of posting etc. like I did before.

So you're comfirming, that there is something definitely wrong with it then?

I may be asking a stupid question here, but did you try adjusting the contrast so that it looks the way it was again (by tapping on the little half-moon contrast icon in the lower left corner of your Visor screen -- near the menu silkscreen icon)?

have you checked if the backlight is on?
your problem almost sounds like the way the screen appears when my backlight is on under normal lighting conditions

That was my first guess when I noticed it. And no, it isn't on Turning it on and off, also didn't seem to remove this effect. I also thought it was a residue or something of the backlight. I know I've been using the backlight a bit lately. That might be the cause.

Unfortunately, moving it left even till minimum contrast, the grey tinge is still there in the background. It's light enough to be bearable at the moment at normal contrast.

So I guess you guys confirm than that there shouldn't be any grey tinge at all in the background? I mean the background is the same color as the screen color when it's off right?

If it is a problem then I'll just have to get a replacement.. AGAIN

The contrast can also be affected by programs, such as AfterBurner, that speed up your processor.

I may overclock my Duron, but not my Edge. Too chicken.

Give it a while, and once the newness wears off, you'll be overclocking with the best of 'em!

I'd try a soft reset and, if that doesn't work, a warm reset before returning it. It can't hurt.

Tried both. Defintely a screen problem. Even the Palm logo at startup has that wierd gray background on it. I'll wait and see if this goes away or if it gets worse for a week or two, before returning it.
