I just discovered I can use this QNS thing to connect with my visor and timeport! It's great! I pay for the wireless web service as it is- $10/month, so I assume I don't get any additional charges beyond this...

Too bad I didn't find this until I signed on the dotted line for MSN service as the rebate program at best buy! I really hate MSN. Oh well....

My girlfriend has a timeport and a visor deluxe. Can you explain to me what the QNS thing is and how do i get her on the internet with her visor? She has the datacable but thats only for computers/laptops.

Also what does 10$ a month get you? Unlimited or is it billed off your minutes?

Thanks!

Don

Don,

The Sprint wireless web service costs 10 extra dollars/month on top of your regular plan with Sprint. You can just call them and add it if you want. You can actually use the web now, but you will be billed a per-minute charge for the web access. (Some people have claimed that in their area they did not have to pay extra for web access- so it might depend on your region...)Regardless of which way you go for billing the access to the web, the time you are on-line does count against your phone minutes.

I use a serial cradle attached to the data connection cable and adapter that came with my timeport. But there are much nicer all-in one cables available now through:

www.cables4pdas.com & www.thesupplynet.com

The cables4pdas site explains the QNS connection. You can basically use that in place of a dial-up ISP. Or if you have a dial up ISP you use on you PC- that will work too. The cables4pdas site has lots of connection info on it.

You also need an e-mail program on you visor to get and read your e-mail. I use eudora, but others use multimail. You will also need a web browser- I use Blazer and like it. You can also use avantgo- there are a ton of them out there.

Look through the wireless discussion thread- you will find lots of info on how to do this. I'm not very high-tech- I figured it out by reading through other's advice on this site!

I have used the QNS connection for several months and there have been no additional charges to my bill (other than the $10 wireless web fee).
