Re: Audible Advice??

Hey there.
I took a look at Audible.com yesterday and want to try it out. However, I'm a bit confused about whether to get the Audible Advisor for my Platinum, or should I purchase an MP3 player instead. If so which one? After reading the Audible website, I'm now thoroughly confused about the audio formats (ie: 1, 2, 3, and 4).
My understanding is that any MP3 player can play Audible content. But how do I know which players support that whole 1, 2, 3, and 4 format thing?
Any advice/warnings/suggestions??
As an avid Audible listener (Basic package, 12-month subscription), I got the Audible Advisor for my Platinum (VPL). Since Audible has their proprietary format, not all MP3 players will be usable. To add to the confusion, even if you get an MP3 player that plays Audible files, you can only play certain compression formats.
From what I can gather, most of the file formats I'm interested in are either 2 or 3, or both ('high' number, 'low' compression, 'better' sound quality, 'more' storage space). And with the convenience of having my VPL with me on vacation and the like, it just made more sense to me to have only one device. Yeah, I only have 16-Mb to play with, but at formats 2 or 3, that represents about 3-4 hours of continuous playing time. Plenty for me. Your mileage may vary...
