I read that in order to HotSync properly with
the Visor, you MUST install and use the desktop
software that ships with it. Well, I'm using my
old Amiga (my Mac died the eternal death), and am
using transfer software (Spitfire) that works perfectly with
my Palm III.

Anyway, since I obviously can't use their Mac/PC
software, anyone know if I'll still be able to still
transfer files onto the Visor using this method,
or am I completely screwed? (On the Mac, I never
used the HotSync software anyway...I used PalmBuddy.
I have Amiga software that does the same thing.)

On another note, I've got a question about the
Visor 8meg springboard. Is this standard flash
memory, where I'd have to move apps/databases onto
it to use, or does it give me 16megs to play with?
More specifically, can I read/write to any files on
the expansion card...I want space for some large
databases I have, so would the databases be "read only"
if I put them on the card (where I would have
to transfer them back to the built-in Visor
memory to change/add to them), or can I change/write
to the files while stored on the expansion board?

This would probably worked if you bought the Visor with a serial cradle instead of a USB cradle.

It comes with a built-in File Mover application that lets you copy, move and delete applications on both the module and the handheld. You can even back up and restore individual data files using the same tool.

Based on the info from the web site and my understanding of Flash memory, I would say that you can't treat the Flash memory as an extension of the system memory. (It might be better to think of it as removable mass storage like a floppy disk instead of as memory.)
