Question

Howdy:

Anyone out there in the ether get this item yet? I placed and order and have yet to here from Extend. They said they would start shipping on a first come first ordered basis.

Just Curious.

Yeah, I haven't heard from them either. I ordered -I think- within the first two days the product was offered and I seem to remember shipping was to begin on December 7th.......can you say vapour-ware??????

...still waiting, too

I've emailed them twice to inquire and have not gotten any replies. Shipping was supposed to start December 6th.

My reply was that my order would be shipped by the 13th with delivery within 4 days. Nothing yet, but hopeful.

I really do not think they have their act together. I contacted them a couple months ago, and offered to carry their products on my web site http://www.pluscellular.com ...we've been starting a PDA section. They offered their charge kits & batteries for a couple dollars off list price. I explained to them that it was next to impossible for a retailer to purchase their product at almost list price, mark it up a reasonable amount, and then sell it higher than what could be purchased from them.....

Maybe someday they'll get a little business sense.

I got this email reply from eXtend today:

quote:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the ship date of your FullCharge rechargeable NiMH battery kit for the Handspring Visor handheld computer. We originally set a date of Dec. 6th to begin shipping this product. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen difficulties, we have been forced to delay shipment until Dec. 18th. The entire staff of eXtend Computer & Instrument is aware of the importance of the upcoming holiday gift giving dates and is working dilegently to ship all of the backordered FullCharge for Visor kits on Dec. 18th and 19th. Since they will ship priority 2 and 3 day service, you should receive your FullCharge for Visor kit by Dec. 22nd.

Regards,
eXtend Computer & Instrument

Maybe Santa will make it after all

Angry anyone?

I received the same email back on the 18th or so. Did anyone receive his/her order yet? I am very tempted to email them and cancel my order. I check my credit card today and know that they haven't charge yet so my guess is I have ZERO chance of getting it before Christmas

It's here!!!

My FullCharge arrived today in the mail. I'm not going to install it until tonight, however. The instructions recommend a full 10 hour charge before use... I can't leave the Visor alone that long unless I'm asleep!

Mine just arrived; it's charging on my desk as I type this. Of course, this means I'll have to unplug it before going home, so it won't have a full ten hour charge, but I'm not too concerned about that. In a few weeks, I'll have a good idea of how it's working out.

Called Extend

I called on 12/28 to find out the status of my order. The woman answering looked up my order with just my name and said that mine was in the next batch (maybe she was just trying to get me off the phone). She said that there were some problems with the orders that included the car charger because of a delay in shipment of the chargers. I guess I will continue to drop AAA batteries, like rabbit droppings, all over the office until it arrives.

Angry Problem with FullCharge Kit

Upon using this NiMh Battery Kit for Visors for the first time, upon removing the Battery Charger Plug from the installed battery, one of the soft copper Plug/Prongs remained attached to the battery. It broke off.I now have
a fully charged NiMh battery in my heavy use Visor Deluxe with no way to keep this battery charged. I have yet to
speak with or get a response from eXtend, since their phone line is constant busy and they have yet to respond
to my E-Mail.Beware, if you have this Kit, the soft copper prongs are very easy to break off. This appears to be a
serious engineering problem that needs to be resolved quickly. I will keep you informed of eXtend's response to
this problem.

Question

got mine yesterday. Plug it in and charged overnight. Everything is working fine. Now only if I can find freeware battery hack that allows me to change to battery indicator. Am I missing something or OS of my visor deluxe only allows me to change to Nicad or Rechargeable Alkaline? I downloaded a couple of different shareware and freeware but no luck so far.

No, you're not missing anything. OS 3.1 only supports Alkaline, Rechargeable Alkaline, or NiCad. NiMH's have a very similar "profile" to NiCad's, so you can use that setting with the FullCharge.

thanks Mark. What a bummer I guess I will have to look at runtime to see how the new rechargeable battery perform against my Nicad junk
