Visor -- Mac OS X 10.1

Help wanted...

I am trying to figure out a way to put together my Handspring Visor Edge with a PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X 10.1.

Does anyone have experience, anyone tried out some of the obvious solutions...?

  1. Getting a PalmDesktop up and running without a classic environment (have to wait till palm get there pieces
  2. pppd under mac os x...like the Linux pppd visor solution.

Anyone...??

Classic

Is there a particular problem with running 'Serial Port Monitor' in Classic? I do this and have had few problems. In fact I use Classic hotsynch to synch two OS X native apps, Quicken 2002 and Chronos Personal Organizer.

cheers!

Palm Desktop certainly does work under Classic, though I've found that the first sync often fails (with Conduit Manager quitting unexpectedly)... subsequent syncs are possible. Could be something about Mac OS 9.2.1. Anyway, they've promised Palm Desktop for Mac OS X real soon now.

As to getting on the Internet, the problem isn't running pppd (or any Unix software... it should compile and run), the problem is getting it to talk with the Mac hardware. I guess you could try linking it up to /dev/usb (not the correct name, it's called something else, can't remember what) and try running it, but I don't think anyone's managed it yet.
