If you have a Visor Platinum, do .7 , until you get a setting "[NiMH]" (or something the like). If you have any other Visor, do a .7 , until you get a setting "[NiCAD]" (since Palm 3.1 doesn't have a Nimh setting, that's the closet(sp) one) Good luck!

To be really specific, you can always use NiMH batteries. I think what you mean is: "How do I tell the battery meter that I've got NiMH in there?"
I like NiMHSet. Unlike some solutions, it sets the battery type to NiMH even after a reset.

The registered version of Battery Prefs does also. I like it b/c it resides as a menu item in Palm's standard preferences. mikemccollister.com/palm/

Actually, warm resets don't seem to change the battery -.-7 setting on the Palm (at least on the Visor Deluxe). So I'm unclear as to what the advantage of NiMHSet is.

How is the shortcut command activated?
I opened the memo pad and performed the shortcut dot dot 7. It showed me [NiCAD]. Now what?

Congratulations -- your Visor's battery meter is now calibrated for NiCAD/NiMH batteries. Nothing more need be done.
If you've got a Visor Platinum or Visor Prism, there is a separate setting for NiMH. Repeat the shortcut-dot-dot-7 until [NiMH] (or something like that -- I've got a VDX, so I don't know.)
