Question Instructions for new wireless user

If I get a cable to connect my Prism to my StarTAC and install Balzer 2.0......then what? Can someone point me to a website that gives some detailed instructions for a wireless newbee?

You can probably get all the help you need right here.

Basically, all you need to do is configure your Connection and Network preferences in the Prefs app on the Prism. The configuration steps vary based upon service and/or ISP. What cellular provider are you using? Do you have an ISP?

My cellular provider is Verizon. My ISP is Earthlink and I use a dial up connection from home.

Thanks.

Continued

Will the Prism cause the StarTAC to dial or will I have to dial using the buttons on the phone?

Do I go into Prefs and connect and then go into Blazer to surf?

As you can see my questions are very basic.

Thanks in advance

You never have to dial the phone itself. When configured properly, the Prism will cause the phone to dial automatically, either from within the Network Prefs app or an application like Blazer. Most browser and email apps have the ability to auto-connect.

Verizon has what's known as a QNC (Quick Net Connect) that is used instead of your ISP to connect. You need to have Verizon's data option enabled on your account, however. You can also dial into your ISP. Others have used EarthLink successfully.

Question

Can I use the cradle to connect to the internet to try out the Blazer Demo software?

Cool

I also have a StarTac with Verizon, and I'm considering buying one of these cables. So, I'm watching this thread with great interest.

I would just get a VisorPhone, but I understand that VoiceStream isn't very good in my area.

Which cable is the best one to buy? That Gomadic cable seems good to me.

And where's a good place to buy one, particularly the Gomadic?
After you get the cable, do you have to buy Blazer, or are there other alternatives? Like, some free alternatives?

Once you have your software installed, is the web surfing experience the same as the way it is with a VisorPhone?
