Question Can modem hotsync work with voicemail/fax software?

I'm a new neo owner, looking to buy a thinmodem. I like the idea of dialing in to my home phone remotely, and hotsync-ing to update email, avantgo, etc, and if I'm gonna leave my computer on, it would be nice to run a voicemail/fax server on it as well. Problem is, wouldn't there be confusion on which app picks up the modem? Has anyone pulled this off before?

P.S. - I'm looking for a deal on a basic thinmodem (not +) if anyone has a good one to sell. -m

Yeah, I wanted to be able to do the same thing. I have TalkWorks Pro 3 (a now discontinued product from Symantec) that does a great job for voice mail / faxing. It can also pass of a data call to another app. However, the other app has to be TAPI-compatible, which HotSync manager is not, unfortunately. (TAPI allows more than one program to use the modem without needing to open it "exclusively". However, HotSync manager wants to open the COM port directly when you set it up for a modem hotsync.)

Given the amount of computer equip. I already have, and that I have a broadband connection, I thought about setting up a VPN server at home and using Movian's VPN client. This would allow for a network hotsync. But, I haven't gotten around to it yet.
