I haven't even order my Visor yet and I'm already looking for software, styli, and, of course, screen protection... Thanks to all the wonderful folks here on the VCBB - the information available here is incredible!

There have been many posts here regarding screen protection, I did some thinking and searching... and I found several sites that sell "static-cling" film (the stuff all those window decals are made from). Two sites of note are (searched for "static cling"):

These static-cling products might just be what the doctor ordered for my (soon to be mine) Visor screen.

I'd be interested in hearing what the rest of you think, especially if anyone's tried this approach yet.

Now, if I could only get those pesky holiday bills paid off so I could order my Visor...

I ordered the PDA Survival Kit from www.conceptkitchen.com, which came with WriteRights. The came in 2 days, and I like them. They have adhesive on them, so they stick better than window decals. They are also "textured" so it feels like you are writing on paper rather than glass. They are very nice. It also comes with cleaning pads (BrainWash Pads), tips that turn regular bic pens into emergency styli, and a karma cloth (soft lether for cleaning your screen). I am very satisfied, and if I were you I would take a serious look at these.

Might protectors that use a static-cling method tend to crinkle, crease, etc. during some stylus operations? (ex: dragging across the screen) I wonder how well they'd hold up. Static cling can be powerful, but more powerful than your graffiti-writing hand? Based on the properties of the static-cling parking sticker on my car, I think the adhesive would take more wear-and-tear.

I dunno. I'm using homemade vinyl protectors which stick by static cling. They adhere to the screen like they were stuck with super glue, and haven't budged a millimeter after a couple of weeks of use.

Vinyl is under $2 for a piece one foot by one yard, which will give you a decade's worth of protectors. And it is reasonably scratch resistant. (the vinyl is fine on the main screen, and only a little cloudy over the graffiti area)
I would be interested in how the static cling stuff works, though.

the "static Cling" film is very much the same as the vinyl film you are using. The only differance would be some minoradditives in the "vinyl film to reduce the plastics ability to hold a static charge. Also the thinkness of the film may not be the same but that is of little concern. Either should work fine as they are essentialy the same. Vinyl being very soft will not last as long as the writeright but are certainly cheaper. try a small piece and see if you like the feel of writing on the vinyl. If you do, you have found a very cheap screan protector.
