Question

I must admit that I don't understand a number of the acronyms I read in posts here (RAFLMAO, I think, was one).
Can anyone point me somewhere that lists definitions of them?
Thanks for the help and patience.

P.S. Is there some secret code with these, like magicians never give away tricks? Hope I haven't violated some unwritten rule...

Nope, no unwritten rule.
These were invented because many internet people were too lazy to type the entire thing. AFAIK of course.

Having said that, there are some script kiddies and pseudo-crackers who think it is "kewl" to write in a deliberately obsure fashion, and don't want their (simple minded) secret let out. 3L173 = "ELITE" for instance.

One can do entire paragraphs in this sort of junk with the "Lamerizer"!

I doubt I would spend much time trying to decipher them--not unlike my attitude toward clever license plates...
