I would rate batteries as well as some form of charger (for prism and edge) mandatory

A stylus, while not absolutely mandatory, is close enough as to be indistinguishable.

I personally find that the circuitry inside helps enough that it also might be considered mandatory. At least, it seems to affect performance when I take that stuff out!

I really think a hand with an opposable thumb qualifies. Before my thumb, my Visor kept falling out of my hand. Doh! Thank Goodness for Velcro!
