Unhappy Launcher problem

Recently I installed a Launcher program(I think it was Launch'em3) and didnt like it. When I didn't like it I attempted to delete it and was barred from doing so. Being the impatient person that I am I soft reset and after going through the welcome a recieved a screen with a black border around it and the Battery info, time, etc. on the bottom in a little box. All the apps are in this display, and the only way I can reach the usual screen is by going through Welcome, but when I hit the home "button" it returns me to that screen. I've tried a soft reset and Hotsyncing. Please help. Thanks

This happens when you install a launcher that takes control of the launching procedures. Most of these programs allow you to set it as the default launcher, that way after a reset it's suppose to come back up. I would try going into the launcher that you added and disabling it by whatever means are available in the launcher. Then, once it is disable, delete the launcher. I know GoBar (another 3rd party launcher) has an option under preferences that sets it as the default launcher. You have to disable this feature before deleting the GoBar application. L'emIII may have this same option.

This probably accounts for the "deletion barring" you encountered also.

By the way, that launcher that came up after you did a reset ("...with a black border around it and the Battery info, time, etc. on the bottom in a little box..."). That's the Palm OS 1.0 (or 2.0) launcher. To make older programs compatible with the newer OS's, Palm inserted the old launcher API into the new launcher. That's the way the Palm used to look.... it's come along way....

Hope this info helps

However, now that you have the "black border" there is no way to disable Launch'Em.

Luckily there's a solution -- what you need to do is REINSTALL Launch'Em. You will notice that the Visor will now look like it did BEFORE you deleted it.

Next, you'll have to go into Launch'Em's option screen and UNCHECK "Always use Launch'Em".

Now you can go ahead and delete Launch'Em. It should be okay after that.

Hope this helps too.

Wow... I just went through this scenario deleting Launcher III from my son's VDX! I got it straight but was wondering what that "black border" launcher was all about.
