Here's an interesting tidbit for you all about Afterburner 3.0o (a Hackmaster enhancement). With this enhancement installed on my Visor, Visor Test will think that my Visor has "a potential component issue..". After removing the enhancement and resetting my Visor, Visor Test says, "Test Complete. No Problems found. It appears that Afterburner is doing something that fools Visor Test. I know my Visor is OK because I purchased it before the affected dates on Handspring's web site.

Beware!

I just read an e-mail from the author of the AfterBurner program regarding the issue guido79 points out, and after retesting my "bad" Visor without Afterburner activated I passed. This is good news I suppose, but I already have a replacement unit in hand for my "bad" one. Oops!

Just to confirm--I ran a random number in by changing a digit in the upper portion of the SN--and it said my Visor was ok--even though when I enter my own SN it shows up as bad. I don't see why they bothered making the prc--just run the SNs through their website, would seem more efficient and easier. Unless they meant it that way so we could beam the test app to all of our Visor friends.

Boo, I tested positive. I'm going to ask for a new one, I have had all kinds of funkiness with this thing. It is already a replacement for my first one which had a defective IR port.

Just got my replacement today. Kudos to HS for their fast response. The replacement unit has the improved stylus. Gone is the cheap piece of plastic that came with my original unit. The new stylus has a decent weight. The built-in screw driver and reset pin actually make me think about switching back from my PDA Panache stylus! Good job Handspring! It's hard to find a company that (really) listens to their customer these days.
