Question Memplug module and basic Visor

I recently had a basic black and white Handspring Visor bought for a present - the 2Mb model. Although the machine is brand new, I presume that it is one of the earlier models sold at a discount. I am interested in the P.I.Tech Memplug module, and E-mailed them to ask if the Smart Card version could be used with this model of Visor, and any memory size limitations for the card. For some reason the first reply was very unhelpful and witten in English which was barely understandable, which made me a little uneasy about trusting the reply which I got from a subsequent E-mail. I wondered if any Visor user has experience of using the Memplug with this basic Visor.

I use the Memplug (Compact Flash version) with my Visor Deluxe. This has the same OS version as the 2MB Visor. I have had no problems. As far as I know, all the MemPlugs are compatible.

The MemPlug is a great Product with awesome support.

The MemPlug will work great with your Visor Solo. The only limitation is in PiDirect. PiDirect is an Application that comes built-in on the MemPlug. It allows you to run almost any application and DB right off of the card. Unfortunately, PiDirect only works with OS3.5, not OS3.1.

You can, however, get around many of the limitations using PiVFSMgr and a Launcher that supports VFS.

Take a look at LaunchPlug for some great instructions on using the Visor in conjunction with the MemPlug and LauncherIII. Of course, many of the things you can do with the MemPlug do not require LauncherIII, so the site should still be good information.
