What did I kill???
I have a prism which has been working fine. Suddenly last night, whenever I hot-sync, I get a "fatal error" during the "cleaning up" phase and have to do a hard reset and use the backup module to fix it.
Finally, I downloaded PInstall to see if it was just the hotsyncing itself. I was able to load one program successfully. Then I tried to load a specific program and got that "fatal error" again.
On a whim, I removed the 16 MB ram module. From that point I was installing like a champ! I installed, inserted the RAM module, transferred the new files, removed the RAM module, installed, etc until I had installed everything except that one program which may (or may not) have been associated with that last "fatal error." I used the backup module after the final transfer. Then I reinserted the RAM module and put all the programs where they needed to be, did another backup and went to bed.
This morning I (stupidly) removed the backup module while in the backup application. I got an error message and then the launcher looked funky. It had different indicators at the bottom and a black border around the icons. I had to do some resets to get rid of it.
The backup module does still work. However, I'm now at work...still afraid to hot-sync. I tried to install that one game (free color version of Hearts by Leo...which I've successfully installed in the past) using PInstall. I don't know if it's coincidence or not...but I got another "fatal error" requiring a hard reset.
What happened???? What's with the needing to remove the RAM module to install or possibly hot-sync? What's with the sudden onset of needing soft-resets after removing the backup module after eight months of flawless use?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
