I've just purchased a Thinmodem for my Prism. While our family is on Earthlink, is there any 'better' or 'recommended' ISP providers for Thinmodem / Visor access? Does anyone out there know of any providers that offer a special package for handheld users?

Also, is there any way to hook up to Yahoo Mail?

If you're on Earthlink, you can just use them to access the net with your thinmodem, really no hassles there. If you were with some company like AOL who would let you do anything except surf the web on your visor, then I would recommend AT&T for $5/month for a 150 hours (I think). But since you can use your existing ISP with your visor, you're all set to go. So just use your existing ISP and don't make things harder on yourself

It looks like AT&T requires a nav bar that has a banner (though it can be closed) and therefore probably can't be used with a Visor.

Actually, there was a thread dealing with this a while ago in which that very issue was raised and a couple of people posted they had successfully gotten the visor to work with the ATT service with no navigation bar, no special settings or hacks required.

The only problem with the ATT service is that they require you to sign your life away -- they have access to everywhere you go, have verbage in their contract that they will survey you on your usage and you have to answer, etc. I ended up going with Qwest service and forwarding everything to my Yahoo account -- so I could check without having to use a separate mail server. Seems to be working well now.

I never hooked up the AT&T service due to their requirements for access as well as the banner issues -- sorry, can't help.

AT&T Dialer

I believe the dialer to which I referred is only for use with the AT&T Global network (not the consumer network). I'm not sure how the two networks differ, except that the consumer network is MUCH cheaper and there are international access numbers available through the Global service.

If you have service through the Global Network you should check out the dialer. It's essentially a database of all of the access numbers worldwide, which makes it really nice when you leave home and forget to get the local numbers before you leave.
