Unhappy Advice: VP or Treo?!

Howdy,

Well, after a year of great use, my Visor Dx and VisorPhone were stolen of the counter of my pub last night. I really liked the V/VP combo, though it was bulky, it did everything I wanted, cheaply. I'd had the Visor for a couple of years, then added the VP for free when I signed up with Vstream. No problems with Web, email, etc. But you know all that...

I'm asking for advice as I decide what to do now. I can get another Visor (refurb, or ebay) and add a VPhone (ebay) but I'm looking at well over $100 to replace them both. So I've thought about moving up to the Treo, but I don't wanna pay full price. As I'm still on my existing VStream account, I can't get deals "with new service activation."

Does anyone have experience with the VP and the Treo? Any other comments or ideas?

Many thanks,
Matthew ([email protected])

VP or Treo? Tough Q?

I am in same scenario, but have luxury of still having my VP on Prism. ONLY two things I don't like 'bout TREO is no GRAFFITTI and PRICE.

Have you considered opening a NEW T-Mobile account under another name/SS# (wife, relative, etc.) in order to get the "deal" that isn't sucha great deal anyway, OR switching carrier's to do same, (and see if you can get new carrier to ADD to existing offer to switch, they are such whores, excuse me)

Let me know what you do, I'm forever cussing the "bulkiness" of my VP-PDA, but SO MUCH IN LOVE with all the functionality.

VP or Treo, decided

Thanks for the response, rrdude. I agree with your points. I went ahead and got a used Treo 180 on ebay for $280, which is much cheaper than even the discounted "new activiation" price of $349, so I'm happy... it should arrive tomorrow. I had considered opening a new account with T-Mobile (I can't get used to that, what was wrong with VoiceStream?), but I knew I'd get screwed into paying off my contract, and I wanted to maintain my phone number, etc. So this should work out, T-Mobile told me with a new phone/Treo I could still keep the number, even with a new SIM card.

I also loved the functionality of the VP, but it was damn big in my pocket.

I wonder why Handspring didn't put SD/MMC slots in the Treo 180... that would give me a Bluetooth option I'd die for!
Peace,
