As we drove to a night out for dinner, my wife off-handedly remarked tonight that someone from Handspring called today. I almost wrecked the car in shock and anticipation for what warranted a call to insignificant me from the almighty Handspring--company of legends. My wife told me that it was a girl calling for my e-mail address. She said they didn't get it when I placed my order, and they needed it to e-mail my order confirmation number to me. (I do not recall whether or not I gave my e-mail at the time of order. I guess not.) She said to expect the order confirmation "soon". My guess is that my order was being keyed into the system--as others on this board have indicated is procedure--and she called because of the e-mail deficiency.
This is all very encouraging if you ask me, but then I am not quite the pessimist others on this board seem to be. I figure I'll get my Visor one way or another, whether the order taker used a pencil or a keyboard. (After all, if these order takers are anything like most of my acquaintances I am more comfortable with their level of proficiency with a pencil than a computer.)
Really though, I'm already using about 50% of my IIIx's memory for books (80% if you count the Bible), and that equates to about one year's reading. I'm anxious to get my Visor, don't get me wrong, but the anticipation of carrying around 3 years worth of reading only excites me so much. The real thrills will come next year as the Springboards start showing up.
If I were to draw a negative from the whole episode it would be that I ordered on day one, and my order has just today attracted attention. But this is the best I can do for negativity.
Anxiously awaiting my new (ice) Visor (with renewed excitement),
Tyler
