Apparently, this is an old topic, but does anyone know of a way to make the Visor work with Hotmail? I am using a Visor Deluxe and Outlook Express. OE is my default mail, so I really don't see what is going on. Is it possible to set up Hotmail to download your mail into your local folder?

Thanks in advance.

How are you using Outlook Express with Hotmail?

Outlook Express 5.0 is capable of downloading your hotmail messages into an "online" folder. I have the same problem, I want to get the messages to automaticly go to the local inbox.

I don't use HOTMAIL or OE but I do know there is a Message Rules section in OE that will let you set up rules that you can move messages to a certain folder. Since I do not have HOTMAIL I am not sure if this will work but it is worth a try.

Unfortunately, the message rules in Outlook Express 5.0x does not include the Hotmail account as part of its rules engine.

(If it was available to their rules engine, you would use the "Where the message is from the specified account" and choose the Hotmail account)

As I hear it from MS, it's "working as designed". I'd add: Working as _poorly_ designed.

I have cox@home and setup OE to check my previous ISP mailbox with no problems. Talking to a friend of mine yesterday and they are having the same problem with hotmail. Supposedly hotmail changed something, don't know what, that is causing problems. GOOD LUCK!!

ok, I am new to this stuff, so this might not be 100% accurate, but here goes...there are 2 issues with Outlook Express and syncing email.

First, the Visor comes pre-loaded with Pocket Mirror, which is the email syncing software. Pocket Mirror only syncs with the Local Folders, not with the Hotmail folders. So you have to get the mail from Hotmail to Local Folders.

Second, Outlook Express does not have a way to transfer the emails from the Hotmail inbox to the Local Folders inbox automatically. So I think that the only answer is to drag the emails to the local folders inbox in order to sync to the Visor.

I hear that Intellisync will sync to whatever folder you direct it to; has anyone tried it?

Thanks for the idea about moving my email to the local folders. It worked! If only Handspring product support knew what to do. I can't tell you how many times I got the same wrong answers from them. Thanks again.
