Cool

Hi!

I don't know if anyone remembers me from the Developers forum thread here on VS about grayscale images and such, but I did finally get stuff working.

I need prizm and platinum owners to check this program out for me to see if it does what I hope it does.

http://www.intergate.ca/business/fl...m/colortest.prc

This program has three buttons, one for 4 grays, 16 grays and 256 colors, respectivly. If you could just tap each of the buttons in turn, they should display 3 pictures. You will have to tap the Apps button each time and re-start the program to look at the next screen.

If you could, please tell me if the pictures actually do come up with the in gray and color.

Please post any questions you have.

Thank you very much.

Wow, what did you do?

I only ran it on my emulator, but not only did it crash,
but it continued to crash after a soft reset. The
emulator was unrunnable! I would definately recommend a
backup module before trying it...

I also think you may be running an apache web server, and
it improperly sending that file.

Yep. Netscape is getting confused on the download. Do NOT download using netscape and run. It seemed to work okay
after I got past that.

I seem to recall you need to configure a .htaccess file
in that directory with

AddType application/octet-stream .prc

To fix this nonsense.

Angry

Didn't work on my Prism. Actually, I got a fatal exception just hotsyncing the app over, and now it won't reset without getting the fatal exception at the Palm splashscreen. I'm performing a hard reset right now. I'm sure glad I did a backup before attempting to install....

Thorin, you might want to edit your message so that no others get burned here...

hmm

Dang- I forgot to ask you guys to tell me if you were using a Prizm or A platinum. That's important to know.

anyways, I hope you'll bear with me for a bit- I'm still learning.

Try this address: It's a zip file, so it should work properly:

http://www.intergate.ca/business/fl...m/colortest.zip

I've updated the program, so If Some people could test it out on prizms and platinums, and tell me:

a) did it crash? and if so, on which button?
1. Was it a nasty crash, or just an easily ressatble one?

b) Prizm or platinum?

c) Did each of the screens show up in the correct amount of grays and colors?

Thanks again fo your time, and sorry for any inconveniences.

Answers:

a.) no crash (this time)
b.) Prism
c.) The color screen looked very much like the 4bit grayscale

bonus answer... the edit/delete icon in the header of your post allows you to edit your post.

The new version worked fine on my Prism. All three pictures are obviously the same image, but are you doing the depth color conversion in your program or are you storing three different versions of the same file? Just curious.

well

It's three different picture files, each a different depth. I should have picked one that had more different colors, but the full color one should look blue, or at least it dod when I imported it.
