Red face

After really fooling around and loosing all my data,
I tried different ways of restoring my data.
The problem is that this limited version of a launcher
kept on showing up. It had the time and battery
at the bottom and no menu options. It also had a button
to go to "Applications". I saw this when:
1) the YadaYada module messed up my prism.
2) I did a backup with a backup module from a 16MB
Prism and restored it on a 8MB prism (I know...stupid )
3) the Wireless module messed up my 16MB prism and
had to do a restore.
4) Using my Deluxe and PocketChess, and I exited pocketchess.

Does anyone know what this launcher is?
Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Did it look something like this?

If so: back in PalmOS 1.0 and 2.0 the application launcher was not a separate application but only a popup dialog box. It could be brought up by a program by simply calling SysAppLauncherDialog(). I remember an older version of Pocket Chess doing this. How to get rid of this launcher in general? You cannot, because of OS compatibility reasons this system call still remains. This launcher is in the ROM. How to get rid of this launcher specifically with your problem? I do not know, sorry.

This was discussed a long time ago, but I can't seem to find it. If I remember correctly, an early version of some 3rd-party launcher caused this old launcher screen to appear. The trick was to disable any 3rd-party launchers and do a hard reset.

Again, I couldn't locate the relevant thread so this is all from my rather poor memory...

You should be able to use the DeactivateLIII.prc from the Launcher III 2.2 archive to reactive the 3.x-style launcher.

Although the PRC file was designed to deactive Launcher III, temporarily ignore this tidbit. It's second function-- making the 3.x launcher the default (so, IOW, don't install Launcher III, just DeactivateLIII.prc and then run it).

That old launcher seems to pop up anytime someone deletes a 3rd-party launcher without deactivating it first (or, in my case, removing my flash SB--where Launcher III resides--without deactivating Launcher III first). Usually, you just reinstall the 3rd-party launcher, activate it, then deactivate it and delete it.

I too had this problem.

I used my Backup mod from my Vdx to update my 'new' Prism. Then this same launch screen came up.

1. You need to install the Launcher III deactivator.
Go to the site mentioned by ProjectZero or email me and I can send you the file.
2. Then you need to delete the old Launcher III.
3. Then you can install the new updated Launcher III.

good luck. let us know if this didn't work.
