Question Who here still has and uses a Visor?

I do. Although I like most other people here seem to be ready to upgrade to something else. I'm trying to save up for a Sharp Zaurus, IMO the best PDA on the market.

Arrow Strill use My Visor

I still use my Visor..mostly because of the extar memory and storage space I ahve on it. I use my Treo way more. if the Treo had a memoy slot then i would have gotten rid of the Visor altogether.

For as long as it continues to work and do everything I need, I have no reason to upgrade my VDx.

I have a prism which I just upgraded to 16 Megs and added a visor phone (to replace the minstrel), but I too am looking to upgrade. Probably this summer (june/July).

I'm 90% sure it will be a treo 270, but now I'm torn between communicating and higher resolution.

I'm still using my Prism, which is getting a bit long in the tooth. I will probably upgrade this summer - I'm trying to decide between:

1. The Treo (only if I can get it with CDMA and hi-res color);
2. The new Sony NR series;
3. A Sharp Zarus; or, as a longshot
4. Maybe a Pocket PC, probably one of the newer HPs.

Tough choices.

I still have two Dlx's. One is actually my wife's, but she never uses it.

I actually let a friend borrow my Deluxe to try it out for a while and see if he is interested in getting his own. Otherwise, it simply serves as a backup to my CLIE.

I have just recently begun looking at alternate ways I could use it though. I am seriously considering getting the Magellan GPS Companion or the Parafone.

Of course, I will probably get neither, but it never hurts to dream.

I still use my VDX w/stowaway --- still werks great too (had it for almost 2.5 years..) ---- The Zaurus looks kewl on paper -- first PDA to really spark my interest (I like the idea that it runs Linux and appears to have enough power to run lots of geek *nix style apps/services..) -- however, since I haven't had the chance to play with one yet (been trying to find a demo unit to no avail..) I am still chuggin away with the VDX ...

Have and love my Prism, got a Solo for the wife- who so far is not as in love with it as I was with the Deluxe (the problem is not the memory, etc- she is just not a big electronics fan)

When it is time to upgrade (when the Prism begins to die), I do not know where I will go next.

It certainly will not be a PocketPC unless they are a lot cheaper by that time and have cleared up some of their other 'flaws' (I find PocketPC's to be big, expensive, slower/more complicated to do basic tasks, etc. I prefer Jeff Hawkin's vision of simplicity and speed over the idea of a hand-held Windows system.)

Of the devices out right now, and priced as they are, I would probably replace the Prism with another Prism since I don't have the extra $$ for the Sony (and there are a couple things about the Sony that I was not real fond of when I tried one- especially those buttons!) I might forsake the color and go Edge or Pro if I had to do it right now.

I just got a SOny T615 last week. My Edge has now taken a permanent role as my alarm clock and backup PDA.

I love my DVX

I would still be using my Blue DVX but it recently died on me, so I went out and upgraded to a Clie 615.

I've been tempted to upgrade various times, to a Prism, to the Pro, to the Treo, even to the Handera 330, but now I think going to ride it out and see how long my 2 1/2 year old Deluxe will actually last me.

Ditto. I hate being a poor student! If anyone wants to donate a M515 with keyboard to me, I would be more than happy! (I would even take a M500 or M505, too!)

My VDX still does everything I need in a PDA. The new Sony's look fantastic, but I really don't see a compelling NEED to get one.

I have a TiBook and iPod higher on my list of 'needs'

I am still using my solo with the 8mb flash springboard. 17 months of heavy usage and frequent abuse, and it still does everything I need (including wireless web)!

So far, I still have my 16Mb Platinum. While not a poor student, I was a grad student. So I can relate. At any rate, I was also tempted with the many improvements in the PDA arena. I currently have all that I require, however, and don't plan to upgrade within the next 6 months at least.

The trouble with upgading is not the shear joy of new hardware, but it's transferring all that information. If one is moving from/to similar OS's, the painful move is somewhat lessened, ensuring that most, if not all, of the applications will work. But moving from/to cross-platforms, e.g. Palm OS to Pocket PC, maybe a little more involved. I recall that my move from the Philips Nino 312 to my first Palm IIIxe was quite arduous since conversion software was not readily available. Since then, I've managed to collect a decent set of useful applications as well as a few useful Springboard modules for my VPL.

Unless there's a major compelling reason to upgrade in hardware, I'm staying with my Platinum+Visorphone combination. Heck, I used to carry the Apple Newton MessagePad 2100 around before I discovered the Palm!
