Why!!!??

Why the hell should we stop complaining?

The Visor was a good idea, the expandability is endless and to have this great product just discontinued for some Treo sucks.

People have the right to state their opinions on what Handspring did wrong and how they can improve. Why couldnt Handspring focus on both the Visor and Treo-Both are great ideas!?

Many people have Visors and now they are left in the dust feeling that what they own is a piece of crap, when its really not. Theres no reason at all why people should not state their opinions on how they feel and I just dont see why you think not.

Cool Whoaa

Unless my Visor really died and stopped working, I'm not going to stop complaining about it, because like yoyoman had posted, "The Visor was a good idea [ ... ] and to have this great product just discontinued for some Treo sucks."

So far, aside from some worrying problems, my Visor still worked for me, so I'll keep visiting this board for troubleshooting and discuss opinions among other Visor users.

This is the Visor board after all, and if we don't gripe/complain/discuss/applaud the Visor/Springboard products, what should we discuss about? Close down this board just because Visors are out of production? That'll just add insult to Visor users aside the fact that Visors are no longer in production.

I felt that killing the Visor product is a real waste. The Visor is already a good product, and I just wished it could have been better, unfortunately that's not going to happen. I'm sure lots of other users feel the same.

While, I agree, I'd say go with a Clie...

The Visors time has come and gone, it was a good plan that after a point in time, lacked focus and commitment.

No.

I don't want a Palm. I want (and use) a Visor. My Visor does everything I want it to and I've taken reasonably good care of it and it has only failed me once -- and then only because I let a 12-yr-old amuse herself with the games and she overtaxed it.
It uses the same operating system. (okay, couple generations old, but still.) Used ones are still available all over the place (such as, ebay).
You don't stop using something just because it's no longer available. If that were so, I'd've long since stop using my car, stereo, TV, VCR, computer, and most of my collectible CD collection.

You logic is flawed and unsound, and your overzealous use of exclamation points make you look like a whining child. So your Visor died after they were discontinued. Why don't you get over it?

Are you one of those marketing hype people that expertise in (mis)quoting some parts of what another said so that the quote was a totally different meaning from the original statement and tell people how that was what was said?

And the thing is, it wasn't even my statement.

And my next device is a Sony, not Palm, even though I will really miss the battery life of these Visors if I am forced/decide to switch. I've heard that the ARM processors and OS 5 don't have much of a battery life advantage.

Arrow Since when--

The "visor"s still being marketed (Pro,Neo,Plat) and will probably be for several years--

The specialized springboard applications (industrial and medical) pretty well guaranteed that -- and it is the current state of affairs--

How is the visor dead when several models are still being manufactured and marketed--??

I know--The Springboard is not being activately developed and supported by HS--That's their mistake -- and not their first or last-----
But we have many currently existing and new ones by special interest manufacturers all the time --( a new EEG monitor last month)-- and we have cf/mmc/sd/sm card adapters as well--

I noticed that after I posted

The Sony (at least my t615c) does have noticeably shorter battery life, but a USB charger/sync cable and a car charger cable fixed that dilemma)

My apologies again...

I propose instead that you take your Palm, go away, and leave us in peace to "discuss" our Visor issues. There must be plenty of Palm discussion boards you could go bother. If you are no longer interested in Visor, why are you posting here? Gasp! You are not a Palm plant trying to convert us are you? Whew! To think that it almost worked... NOT!

People your using a outdated piece of hardware. Here is a comparision of what your using; I'm using a p4 2 ghz machine as you guys on the other hand are using a 133 mhz mmx machine. Think of it that way. Sure I was with you visor people at one point and when they discontinued the visor I was sad to but it is time to get rid of your your old slow visors and go with a palm, sony, or handera. Take a look at the link below at palms new piece of hardware and then tell me how it compares to your visors.

...and if the 133 MMX machine is doing the job, why should I drop my Prism. Yes I am disappointed with Handspring, but I still like my Prism and the two dozen or so Springboard modules that I own. Shoo fly, don't bother me. Go to a Palm thread and rant about how good it is there.

this is silly

this is just silly to argue who's visor/palm/handheld is better, I think what everyone is trying to tell you is that we love our Visors and this is a great place for us to discuss them. If you have nothing to offer about the Visor other than juvenile insults than leave, go to a discussion site better suited for you, i.e. a palm chat group.. I am sure they'd love to hear what you have to say.

For your info. my handheld is a Visor Prism with 16mb of internal memory. I have a Stowaway keyboard and camera/video camera and xircom 56k modem modules. With this setup (which is very easy to cary in my coat pocket wherever I go) I can take photos anywhere in the world and email them to friends all with one small device, can your handheld do that??? For me and probably many others this is better than even a laptop in its ability to go anywhere.

Cool We are happy with what we have

Jeffdewber

You have no right to tell us to stop complaining about the Visor discontinuation. Neither do you have the right to tell us to get rid of our already perfectly well working Visors and get the new thing that cost $500 dollars today.

Yes, we know, we can get a better handheld with a better resoulution screen, with built in bluetooth, with an mp3 player, voice recorder and faster proccessor in a handheld today. But why should we give up on our perfectly well suited Visors and go spend another 500 bucks. The world does not work that when something better of what you already has comes out, you toss the old one and get the new. We like our Visors, now leave us alone.

Plus, our Visors can do all that every palm in the world can do with the help of the SPRINGBOARD. My Visor can do all that yours can do, hell, it can even be a massager. Name one thing that a springboard cant do that your special palm can.

With the help of software we can even increase our Visors speeds. Afterburner, Quickbits all speed up my Visor greatly.

Now please just go find your palm board and stay there. You are wasting your time trying to get us to dump our old Visors. GO!

Jonathan

I can't take anything that transmits into work for security reasons so that wonder Palm is of no use to me. The beauty of my Prism is that I can pull out the camera, WIFI, or phone module when I go to work, and put them back in when at home. Can a Palm do that without a big bulky sled thingy-dingy? (that's a technical term)

Our Visors work for us. You go and play with your Palm. I am sure you will find something to complain about eventually.
