With much anticipation and joy, I opened up my Stowaway keyboard, only to discover that it did not have a case as the VisorCentral review seemed to indicate.

It is a great device, but I want to protect my $100 investment. Anybody know a good case for this. IT is a bit bigger than a palm pilot, so I'm wondering what I can use.

Does stowaway (or targus) selling something? E&B? RhinoSkin?

Thanks!

Thumbs up

Though I haven't actually fitted them both in (got my stowaway yesterday) I think that my Rhinopack 3000 will be perfect for the duo. Previous, I had my visor and my digital camera (Kodak dc210 i think) and well the camera fell out, so I put the case up (time out? heh).

Ill add to this when I put em both in but I think it will work great.

I thought the Stowaway came with a little neoprene case.

That's a big negatory Rolando. Mine came in the mail today. No case... but I'm not whining.... the keyboard is everything they said it was... and more.

I don't think I'm going to bother finding a case for this one. The outer shell is a good enough case. It's like the ZERO Haliburton outer case. I think a little battle damage will be a nice touch for it. Adding a case is like getting a plastic bag at the grocery for your plastic bag of potatoes.

Strange, I've got the Palm version for my Vx and it did come with a little neoprene case. Wonder why they decided not to include one with the Visor model???? When I get one for my Visor, I'll just use the same case I guess.

FWIW, the Gameboy case by Caselogic barely fits the Stowaway Keyboard. It's got 2 pockets, 1 can fit the Visor, the other pocket barely can fit the Stowaway. CompUSA carries them in the Gameboy area. If you want to see how well it all fits, you can carefully slip the case out of the cardboard slipcover and see for yourself. Oh, and in case you wonder, it only says Caselogic on the side, NO Gameboy logos .

I worry about dirt getting in the stowaway. Yes the stowaway is rugged but I store mine in a knapsack pocket that can get some small grit in it. A vinyl case would probably help keep it clean. Geez a cheap vinyl case couldn't cost but penny's for them to have provided.

I haven't seen one, either. I've posted some notes and sent some e-mails.

I'm hoping someone, like Targus, comes out with a case that will hold a Visor, keyboard, and several modules... plus the obligatory notepad, pen, and business cards.

I would think it could be a little smaller than a standard Organizer notebook.

But, as of yet, nothing.

My RhinoPak 2000

The stowaway fits in the main compartment with my modem module sitting next to it (top part of main pocket. I have the phone cord in the inner mesh pocket along with a pen (in the holder).
The outside mesh pocket holds a notepad and pen and the small flap pocket has business cards (for the PDA-challenged business people i meet!)

The visor fits perfectly in the back pocket! Everything is snug as a bug!

I'll take pictures if i can email them to somebody to post?

hoser,

do you still have room for other modules?

i have an r2k, and love it, and i'd try out your solution, except my stoaway is at home right now - see? no case! - so i'll have to wait for tonight. i had tried a couple of configurations but was displeased... i hadn';t thought to put the visor in the back pocket. as it stands, i keep the visor in the main compartment, faced by a pad and platinum stylus combo, with the modem and cord in the front mesh pocket, business cards in the front flap, and backup module, (and - hope hope - other modules i.e.: mw dictionary, cell phone, etc) in the back pocket.

do you have other modules? if so where do they go?

Thumbs down

A definate no on the case I read about in reviews. I was hoping maybe it was a mistake with the initial shipment, but I sent an email to Targus, and they said they don't ship with a case. I guess the lucky beta testers got one!

I wanna beta test something!

hoser -

i've tried your configuration, and it looks alright for now... i'm not sure how i feel about evrything being stuffed in so tight, so i might go for the 3k, but i'm willing to live with this for a while... maybe i'll get used to it.

oh, and by the way, one can fit at least one standard sized module in the inner mesh pocket (with the phone cord) - i also have a karmacloth in there.

i love the climbing clips... gonna have to get me some of those

i think it'll get less crowded when the SixPack rolls around and it sits IN the visor at all times and the modem isn't taking up space.

Hey matty (or anybody else)

If you want a case for your Visor and Stowaway that will also hold springboards, try going to a local sports shop that sells binoculers (did i spell that right? ) There are some nice padded leather packs with or without shoulder straps that would work perfectly. I saw some in a catalogue and will investigate. They also had the 'hunter' type made of canvas and if you REALLY want to get fancy, CAMOFLOUGE!!! (i think i spelt that wrong too.)

I picked up a generic leather zipper wallet case designed for palmIII sized PDAs, and found the Stowaway to be a good fit inside it. It gives it some measure of protection and resistance to dirt, at any rate.
