Angry Only a Vertical Line appears on screen

Brand new direct from Handspring. Blue Edge after 90 minutes charging all I get is a vertical line about 1/3 from right side. I have tried soft reset, system reset and hard reset to no avail.

Anyone else have this problem. Called the 888 number and they tell me I have to call their toll number and speak to Tech Support. Of course when I call they are closed. I feel that for a brand new item I should not have to pay a $%&ing cent for assitance on a defective product.

I read some of the threads about problems people have had with the Edge but I hoped these things had been resolved. I really want a narrower profile than the Deluxe. I had a Deluxe and though it worked great it was too thick to carry in shirt pocket every day. I also wanted the 3.5 OS and the Edge is a smart looking unit. Seriously thinking about returning the Edge and getting a Palm 500

Unit was assembled in Mexico

Don't piss away the time with calling tech support. If you've tried a hard reset and the problem isn't fixed, there is no need. That's the final step tech support has you do before calling the free # again to arrange an exchange.

Have you tried kicking it?

You didn't need to call tech support. Customer service will arrange for an exchange, free of charge to you, no real questions asked. That's what happened when my backlight wouldn't work even after hard resets.

Lightbulb Bumpy start

I receive my new Edga a week ago. 1st time place it on charging cardle, no blinking and seems not charging. Press the power button and Palm screen show with a black dot on the top left blinking. Then try soft and hard reset with no result. I gave up and plan to call 800 for help the 1st thing in the morning. I then leave this Edge on the charging cardle for about a hour and then try soft reset again. By miracle this time the light blink and starting charging. I was just happy to leave it charging for another hour, then power on and eveything is OK. Still looks good today. My wife also bought herself a new Edge but hers come right up without any bump. So lucky!
