Red face But Proceed with Caution....

Well Innogear was *only* a week late this time....I just downloaded MiniJam Update 2.0. Haven't actually installed yet because I'm backing up my Prism before installing it.

http://store.innogear.com/support.cfm

Well I installed and started to run Update. When about halfway done, I got a Fatal Error. I did a soft reset, and tried to run it again. Then it says the module is incompatible & wouldn't run. I tried to run the older version of updater, and that didn't work either. Now I'm stuck...I e-mailed Innogear & am hoping someone is working this weekend....

Talking

I searched old posts & found a solution posted by James. Hold down button while tapping "update now" button on the screen. It will re-format MiniJam & install update. Now my MiniJuke Box is in color!!

Thumbs down

what is the size difference... I am growing weary of updates moving towards color and the size becoming out of hand. I know it is too much to ask of programmers, but the majority of the world is till in 4 colors, 16 colors... etc.

Is it possible for the b&w's to still benefit from updates without the size of color?

updated huh ?

Ok so it is updated to color. Great. But can you store data on the mmc's ? Wasnt that one of the features that the update for the minijam was add ? Maybe I heard wrong. But I thought that the mmc's being data accessable was something that was supposted to be added. I that is listed in some of the documentation that I havent read.

Given a choice, I would have preferred data on the MMC's as the next update over color support (and I have a Prism!).. The previous (mostly black & white) update was stable enough on my Prism.. Data on the MMC's was one of my main reasons (besides the mp3 playing) why I got a minijam. If I had to guess, we probably won't see data on MMC's till the USB speedloader is released.. and we (possibly) won't see that till they get they Sony memory stick thingy out the door.. (this is totally a guess on my part). The memory stick thing is nice, but I would rather have a SmartMedia or CompactFlash springboard to be honest. I don't see myself running out and getting the memory stick springboard anytime soon (unless it's $20 or something, then maybe) (innogear - hold all other development on the minijam software and focus on getting data storage on the MMC out ASAP, I can live for a very long time with out the software to make my own skins, thanks!)

If it takes too long to get MMC datastorage out the door, I may just look into some of the upcoming CompactFlash springboards, etc.. as an alternative.. At that point, I don't think I'll be a very happy MiniJam owner.

(Just my two cents)

Eric

timmins, it really doesn't matter what size the update is as it's stored on the module's flash memory and doesn't take up space on the Visor's RAM.

They also made some quick-access buttons (you can see them in the news item). In the download file there's a .PDF with all the update info.
