Question Print via IR directly to your existing printer!

JetEye Specs/Photo

I'm looking to print via PalmPrint or some other like software through an Extended Systems' JetEye IR adapter.

I inherited on older version here at work and want to use it on my office PC (Win98SE unit) in order to print from my Visor Deluxe. I do NOT have the Palm Desktop software on my work machine as I sync at home. But it would be very handy to be able to print memos, appts, from here at work.

I searched the archives of this board and there is precious little in terms of this adapter.

Surely, there are some techies that have run this adapter through the paces. It looks as if Psion and the HP Omnibook at one time had set-ups to print via this adapter. I'd hate to think that they were ahead of their time and Handspring/Palm!

Well.. I'm currently reviewing the newer version of this Print adapter.. (SHHH!) expect to see it end of June. It's pretty simple setup. You have it plugged in to power and to either just the printer or both a printer and computer. Next you head on over to www.bachmannsoftware.com and buy their wonderful PrintBoy deluxe. You install it on your Visor, and select the correct Printing driver for your printing, and viola! Everything works like magic.. or it should You do not need any special setup to get it to work with the adapter. The only things you do is make sure that the print driver is set to IR, and is on the right type of printer. I love the XTNDAccess print adapter (the new version of jeteye) but it is a bit pricy.. so it's god to use an old one hanging around.. This answers your questions

Differences? $50 IR printing solution with existing printer!

So what are the differences between the older version of JetEye and new version? I can't imagine that there's a big hardware difference--I mean, an IR receiver is an IR receiver.

Anyone else have a comment? I'm sure that most everyone out there doesn't have access to an IR printer now. This is a $50 solution that may allow direct printing to your non-IR printer!

Well the only differnce is price (about $120) and the silkscreened name on the unit. I don't think there's anything else..
