Question

I now have a very full 8MB module that I would like to backup on an occasional basis. BackupBuddy kinda seems like overkill - I don't want to backup this stuff all the time, just once in awhile.

Anyone know of a SIMPLE way to backup the module?

If I read you correctly, try using the USBFileMover (available at CardAccess-inc.com).

Intended to work with the flash memory of Thinmodems, you can use the app to copy files from your 8MB memory module to your Win32 computer (Module -> PC, IOW. And does it rather quickly, I might add).

I use this to backup my 8MB Handspring Memory Module as well as my 2MB Innopak 2V module.

As noted by James in his article here and others (do a search on USBFileMover in the discussions), with non-Thinmodems, you can only copy from the flash modules. You won't be able to copy to a non-Thinmodem module. But for your purposes, this should work out fine.

Thumbs down

The USB file mover works great to backup your springboard files however, there is no way to transfer them back to your board if you have to do a reformat.

OUTSTANDING.

Exactly what I was looking for. Ashame it does not work the other way (installing), but at least I have a backup...

Thank you both for your help.
