No, your cellular provider must additionally support wireless data, and the service must be activated on your account. I'm not sure what AT&T calls their service, though, or if they even offer it. The catch is that there isn't really a 'modem' on the phone. It's just a conduit to a 'modem emulation' which has to be running on the cellular provider's switch. If the carrier doesn't support the service, and/or it isn't activated on your account, you'll probably just get a fast busy-type signal (several rapid beeps - between 3-5 IIRC). If that's what you're getting, you'll need to talk to your cell provider.
