Now, I have to admit that that all is VERY cool. Except, don't you void your warrenty by doing this?

Also, yet again. .this is a %$#@ing ad!!! WHY?!?!?! (well it apperas to be, sorry if I'm wrong..)

BUT! This seems to be a very good site for getting Asian Vsr products, in the US! /me want!

Found this site today: http://www.nextstudio.com.tw/visor/en_visor.htm. The Chinese site has the same photos as the first post link.

I almost placed my order - but I really want the "Cool" series which aren't supposed to be available until the end of May - (and I know that translates into "Sometime this summer") So I'll wait rather than pre-order

If they make the Strawberry case for the Prism, and I'll buy it!

I'd prefer to wait until a US distributor can get them to us locally. for $23 a silver or red lid looks very enticing!

Exclamation

Any idea on why they've removed the link to the newsflash that was on the VC homepage? I always get nervous when this happens - either the supplier has bad news, or the supplier IS bad news...

(they do have strawberry by the way, and I'm placing my order as soon as the "cool" series comes out)

Replacement case

Does anybody know for *certain* that this is a replacement case, and not simply a cover that will slip over the existing plastic? If its a replacement, I'm buying one immediately, as the posts on the inside of my front cover cracked, and I'm holding my visor together with 2" tape!

Cheers!

From the photos it looks like a case, not a cover. Also it looks like only the front not the back too. e-mail them and ask.

Someone please post as soon as they've received one and what their impressions are of the quality, the fit, etc... I'm curious to find out if the designs are molded into the plastic or if it's just painted on and looks like it will wear off...

If anyone's hesitant about taking your VDX apart - rest assured that it's been done by several people - myself included. I'm not even very technically proficient at it - but I take things apart all the time, and this was one of the easier things to reassemble...

Exclamation Just got it

I'm impressed - I placed my order exactly 1 week ago and it's here already! I got the plain silver one and it looks very slick. My initial impression is that it feels like it's made of a thinner plastic than the original handspring faceplate. And it didn't really come with any detailed info on how to replace it.

I'll install it tonight and compare the plastics and I'll let anyone know if it breaks anytime soon (since I've accidentally dropped my VDX a dozen times already!).

Talking

Great Day!

I just replaced the faceplate of my VDX and I LOVE IT. It was easier than I remembered doing since the last time I took apart my VDX it was to paint the inside (and that takes a LOT of work).

To swap out faceplates took less than 15 minutes work, and the only tool I needed was the stylus that my VDX came with. Absolute cake - and they said they would post instructions on how to do it for anyone who's still a little nervous.

How did you pay for it? CC or do they require some other payment? How much was shipping?

There was no additional charge for shipping, and I paid for it with a credit card - they have a link to a 3rd party that handles the credit card info via secure connection and takes your shipping information...

I thought that since there was no additional s&h that it would take forever to get here but it's so light - it was put in a bubble wrapped envelope and shipped via airmail for only $1.25 - which was part of the list price! I think I paid a total of $23 - maybe less.

I just wish that they sold all the plastic components - but having taken the VDX apart totally, I can understand why they didn't - most of the complicated stuff is mounted on the back part of the plastics so the front is MUCH easier to replace than the back - and I guess you don't really see the back all that much. It does look a lot better now - especially since I tried painting my VDX a while ago and haven't been that happy with the results...

I got the plain silver one - which I must say looks AMAZING in the thin black leather case. A true head turner today at work. (but we're all geeks here)

As far as the logo goes - you can't tell from the picture (because it doesn't show up really well on metallic) but it has a white "Who's Watching" logo - no biggie, but I do miss the handspring guy.

I'm pretty happy w/ it though - if they ever sold the back I'd buy another in a second - although it is much harder to install and so I doubt they will...

That's it - I hope you all have similar great results!

Look for the graphical installation instructions which they promised they would post on their website soon (very responsive company!)
