I'm the proud owner of a BVD and i've made a routine of checking palmgear.com for new software to help fill up my 8mb. I came across CityTime v.2.53. And the screen shot looks exactly like the CityTime, the alleged exclusive enhansement to the Palm OS by Handspring. Any comments? It says the developer is Code City.

Also has anyone noticed that wherever they show the BVD, eiher in adds or in certain places on the website, it's the blue face, and then they show the flipside to showoff the springboard, and it's graphite? What gives, personally I would have prefered a blue/graphite vs. blue/ice visor. Anyway, i guess its too late now.

Thats all for now

As you have discovered, CityTime is not an exclusive enhancement. Actually, I do not belive that it was ever marketed as such. Handspring merely bought the rights to include it the OS. Incidentally, the "enhanced" DateBook is nothing more than Datebk3 from Plimco Software. As with CityTime, the application was licensed from the developer for inclusion with the Visor OS.

I believe the Handspring "enhancement" (if you can call it that) was the inclusion of CityTime in the ROM so you don't have to re-install it if you must do a hard-reset.

They do cite CityTime as the source. The one used in the Visor is older than the current release.

Exclamation

Also, the "enhanced" calculator is really just a stripped-down Handspring branded version of Parens (http://www.probe.net/~rhuebner/index.html)

Interesting little tidbit though. If you load Parens, use the export function to export the conversion categories that are somewhat lacking on the Visor, with a little editing, you can import them into Calculator. Do an export from Calculator & Parens to compare the data.

Red face

The inclusion by Handspring of City Time in the ROM also means that you can't beam it to anyone without crashing their Palm.

Cool

Mark,

That's not quite correct. When I received my Visor two months ago, using BeamBox (an older version), I successfully beamed City Time to my PalmPilot Pro (PalmOS 3.3). I'm not sure if it can be done with the newer BeamBox versions.

I'm not advocating software piracy by copying CityTime -- I just wanted to see if it would work.

I was also able to successfully beam DateBook+ and run that on my Palm.
