Question

How different is the greyscale on Platinum from the Deluxe? I know that it supports sixteen shades of grey, but is that really taken advantage of? How many, and which, apps. use the Platinum's advanced display to its fullest ability (i.e. the EyeModule).

Does it really feel that much faster? My most demanding app. is AvantGo. Will I notice a huge jump in speed? I've heard that the Visor is about 50% faster than a Palm device; I know that the Platinum is 50% faster than a Deluxe. I haven't done any side-by-side comparisons with the Palm vs. Handspring, but I have owned both and don't have any recolection of it being that much faster.

If I sell my Deluxe and buy the Platinum, I want to be impressed. I want my socks knocked off and land across the globe. I want to jump up and down and holler. But at this point, I'm just not so sure.

depends on the software of course.

you will notice the difference in AvantGo search times. 'HUGE'? -no. NOTICEABLE? -yes

If those are truly your needs-don't upgrade. However, for the additional $50 it's a HUGE bargain.

Mike (who went from the Deluxe to the Platinum and is VERY happy.

I recently went from a Deluxe to a Platinum. The 16-shade grayscale is supported by AvantGo, and it makes quite a diffrence IMO. The sun/cloud pictures on my weather page are beautiful now, and the pictures on the Visor Central channel are actually recognisable.

The speed probably feels about 50% faster, it's hard to say.

The silver case seemed "ok" to me at first, but now I really like it.

You probably won't get your socks blown off, but it's a nicer machine.
