Anyone know if Handspring intends to change to form factor of the Visor?
I'm torn between buying the teeeny Palm Vx and the Visor. I know the big price difference and all. But I kinda like the compactness of the Palm. But I want the expandibility of the Visor (esp. that SixPack module)
Which brings me to a second (and then some) question. Anyone know how the SixPack modem/cellmodem will work? Will the software on the six pack auto negotiate ppp with my ISP and grant me an IP? is there a way to set up a RAS on my home computer to retrieve e-mails (if it's connected to a cable modem.) Can run through the new Free ISPs? (Netzero freeISP etc..) Will I be able to run SSH and telnet sessions? (looks like answer is yes.) Anyone got a release date on the Sixpack? (i just joined the mailinglist but I haven't gotten anything.)
I think the whole mobile office thing might eventually win over the form thing for me.

I'll see if I can find the prc from a coworker. But I know that he showed me a ssh window into one of our servers where he was executing perl scripts etc... (this was from a palm 5 using one of those omnipage<?> wireless modems.) I want to be able to do work on the road if someone calls me for emergencies.. Unfortuneatly that modem doubles the thickness of the palm5... So I don't see any reason why it wouldn't run on a Visor with the sixpack installed.

I can only help you wih one of your problems, namely the ability to use a free ISP. From what I can tell, the answer is no because these ISPs use banner based advertising to support their free services. I doubt they will make a banner program especially for a Visor due to its small screen. Besides, you wouldn't want any banner ads cluttering up your screen while you surf anyways.
