Question Lots of crashes that require hard resets - help?!

Ever since Memplug beta 1.4 (I think), I have been getting LOTS of crashes. I can't remember the exact messages, but they all have to do with MemoryMgr. The problem is, when I try the soft reset, I get the infinite reset loop (the flashing Palm screen). The only thing that stops it is a hard reset. This is getting very inconvenient. It screws up my syncing to my computer at work, and the only resolution is to reinstall PalmDesktop software on my work computer (otherwise I get the "duplicate user name" error).

I can't remember specifically when it started, but it was around the time of of the 1.4 update, as well as the Handspring Extension Update that came out recently (I have a Prism).

Anyway, to make a long story short (TOO LATE!), has anyone else had a similar problem. If so, has the source of the problem been discovered? Has the issue been resolved, and if so, HOW?

Your memplug got incorrectly flashed. Goto www.memplug.com and goto downloads, and than click, how do to with fatal reset error. Download eraser, adn vrs 1.6 of the updater. erase the memplug, and than put 1.6 on it. Your problems should be gone.

You don't understand. For every Memplug update I have done, I had HAD to do the whole "eraser" thing. That doesn't change the problem at all. It's weird. It doesn't happen right after a flash update, but it just happens intermittently during use. This leads me to believe that if it IS the memplug software/drivers that are causing the problem, it is more due to a bug or something rather than corrupted flash update. The reason I say this is because I would (and do) get these infinite reset loops whether after an update has been done, wther I had to do the eraser thing or not.

Hi Headgamer,

Have you install TealLock? or have any hack programs enabled?
Have you install Handspring Latest update?

Currently we get report of TealLock is incompatible with PiDirect, and will cause reset loops.

And Handspring update may have problem if your pidirect specify directory is empty.

Besides, we are still working with MegaLauncher to avoid crash in this launcher.

Try to disable those suspected programs that may hack your system, and then enabled PiDirect.

I think your update is successful, don't need to erase and re-do the update, just warn boot and disable PiDirect, and do a soft reset again can enabled you to reuse all other Pi-applications.

Well, my mapopolis works with v 1.6 (app & map in Palm\piDirect)

My SplashPhoto works with v 1.6 (app & pics in Palm\piDirect)

BUT

piBackup doesn't. I even switched from Hackmaster to X-master as a test. But nooooo, it' didn't work.

Everytime I test the backup as a restore, I get MemoryMgr.c, Line:4359,Free handle in a FATAL ALERT. Must do Hard Reset. AHHHH!

I'm just glad/lucky that I have a HS backup mod.

It's better to do a fresh backup with v1.6 instead of restore pre-v1.6 data with it.

I would recommand you to make a backup with PC first.
Then delete (or rename) the backup directory of the smartMedia card.
Do a fresh backup again. And everything should function normally.
